Merry Christmas America!

This Christmas sixth course prepared a video exchange with a class from fifth course from Sunbury, Ohio, United States. Since this group of fifth graders is not yet learning a second language we took advantage to teach them a few words in Spanish like "Belén" and "Turrón".

In our video and in the one we received from the U.S. we spoke about our Christmas traditions to find out about how it is celebrated in both countries. What we found is that there are many similarities as well as differences and that some special traditions often times depend on the families!

English cultural trip in Valencia

We went to Valencia last week, we spent there one week, and we are going to talk about what it was like.
We stayed in a very nice hotel, the rooms were very big and comfortable and the food was delicious. We had a lot of activities in the morning and in the afternoon as well, (theatre, role plays, story telling…) and the most important we had English lessons and we had to speak English all the time.
The last day we went to the beach and we had a lot of fun.

I think Oliva camp is a really good way to learn a lot of English and at the same time, you have a great time with your friends.

St Patrick's day in 1st and 2nd course of Primary

St. Patricks Day is celebrated on 17 th March each year. Pupils of the 1 st and 2 nd course of Primary have done lots of activities in order to enjoy and learn at the same time: crosswords, maps to learn where Ireland is situated, different crafts, specific vocabulary... They also investigated St Patrick's life, typical symbols, the different celebrations, parades and costumes. All pupils enjoyed watching different videos and singing songs.

In this topic, the pupils of the 2 nd course of Primary have learnt to appreciate the worls of animals. This is a subject which children love and we planned different activities to help them to learn as much as possible about how they are born, what they eat, different habitats... Pupils did some projects and shared the information with their classmates.

In this topic pupils have learnt about plants and their importance to humans as they provide us with clothes, furniture, medicines, food, perfumes...
Pupils have also learnt reponsible behaviour towars plants in the environment and how to look after them, We planned some investigations to discover how plants absorb water through their roots. We did this by observing different plants in dyed water, growing plants in the classroom, observing some seeds and their germination...
Lastly, pupils work in small groups to make some posters where they shared their knowledge.

Saint Patrick ’s Day!

Last Thursday, March 17th, was a big day for Ireland and for Irish people all over the world. It was St. Patrick ’s Day! And we decided to celebrate it with a big party! We all brought something green at school to continue with this tradition.
Our infants enjoyed every single activity we had prepared.
On the one hand, the 3-year-old class made a grate crown with a shamrock. On the other hand, the 4-year-old, as well as, the 5-year-old class, made  a funny leprechaun.
However, this is not all we did. We finished the day singing and dancing Irish songs and playing some games.

It was a great day!
